Obesity and our kids

As a hysterrunner, I don’t just eat clean and train hard for myself.  It’s a lifestyle for my whole family. My husband and son work out regularly.  Sometimes they run and race with me.  As far as meals are concerned, we eat the same thing with no special meals for me that I wouldn’t want them to eat and vice versa.  For us this has translated into me losing weight, my husband and son are at healthy weights for their ages. Despite what is going on in my household, there is still an obesity problem for many.  Here is a cool infographic that I came across which addresses this.

How do you make sure your kids stay healthy? Do you work out with your family? What are some hints to staying active together?

    My kids are still young, and having them try new things is challenging but I make them try everything and I always try and make something I know they will eat. My husband also runs, so they see us running all the time. My eldest has done a 5k and always asks to run with me, the little guy still is such an observer but they love playing outside whenever possible.

      I understand! Exercising when my son was younger involved a lot of playground creativity. The eating was easier to handle. Candy & sweets were a rare treat, still are. Fruit is & always was the go to snack for all of us.
